The iterable part of the comprehension is evaluated in the surrounding scope, so for items in items reads the outer list [10, 20, 30]. The loop variable items then lives only inside the comprehension's isolated scope, yielding each element without disturbing the outer items. The result is just the original values copied into a new list.
