With +, both operands are converted to primitives. An empty array becomes the empty string "", and a plain object’s default toString returns "[object Object]". Concatenating "" with "[object Object]" yields "[object Object]". (Note: at the start of a statement {} can be parsed as a block, but inside console.log it is unambiguously an object.)
